PUBG: 8th Anniversary
Eight years ago, you ventured into unknown and challenging battlegrounds. Every match you’ve fought since then has helped shape PUBG’s incredible legacy. From the intensity of survival to the joy of victory, and the countless memories shared with teammates, these moments have all led us to the milestone of celebrating our 8th anniversary.
This year’s celebration is bigger and brighter than ever before! Golden Grenades now shine on the battlefield, while the 8th Anniversary Bobble Bot adds extra fun to the festivities. Look out for towering billboards, exciting fireworks, and a party ferry that will make your experience even more memorable. The excitement is real, and the battlegrounds are ready to party—join the celebration now and enjoy the golden glow of this special occasion!
Party on the Battlegrounds
For the 8th anniversary, both Normal Match and Ranked mode have received some exciting updates. Something big and wobbly has appeared on the starting island! Before the match kicks off, you’ll have the chance to throw a Golden Grenade at the Bobble Bot. Once enough hits are scored, player names who land successful hits will be displayed on a billboard.
Both the Bobble Bot and Golden Grenades will be available on the starting island of every map. No anniversary celebration would be complete without fireworks, so expect a dazzling display before the plane drop. You’ll also notice anniversary banners flying on the starting planes.
In Erangel, the ferry has been transformed into a festive 8th Anniversary Party Ferry, with bridges and docks receiving a celebratory makeover. Throughout Erangel, you’ll find gift boxes hanging from balloons, new commemorative containers, and revamped lampposts.
Additionally, lookout towers, once a place for quiet observation or scouting, now feature decorations and birthday cakes, inviting players to celebrate with their teams. The 8th Anniversary Gift Box is also making an appearance, but only in Normal Match mode. Don’t miss out on this limited-time celebration!
Erangel, Miramar, Sanhok, Vikendi, and Rondo have been covered with anniversary decorations, including billboards and digital screens lighting up the maps.
New Lobby Music
To make PUBG’s 8th anniversary even more immersive, we’ve partnered with M83, the band led by Anthony Gonzalez, known for their atmospheric and cinematic sound. With hits like “Midnight City” and contributions to acclaimed film scores, M83’s music will set the perfect tone as you prepare for battle in the new anniversary lobby music.

The types of Random Weapon Crates given at the start of the match include: AR, SMG, DMR/SR, SG.
Arcade Points will be awarded for Gunplay Labs: Aim Punch 2 sessions.
Aim Punch Adjustments
In this second iteration of Aim Punch, we’ve made several key changes to improve the player experience:
- The dizziness caused by screen movement in the previous system has been reduced.
- Aim punch now decreases with distance.
- SMGs and shotguns have significantly less aim punch at longer ranges. At 50 meters, SMGs will experience aim punch levels similar to ARs.
- SRs will see a reduction in aim punch with distance, though they still maintain significant aim punch at mid-range.
- ARs and DMRs will have slightly higher base aim punch than the current game version, but it decreases to levels similar to the current game beyond 100 meters.
- The VSS will now have the same aim punch as SMGs.
Dev’s Comment:
In January, we launched Gunplay Labs: Aim Punch to test a new system, and we received lots of valuable feedback from the community. After reviewing your input and addressing some concerns, we’ve decided to run a second round with refinements to improve the experience. The major change is a distance-based reduction in aim punch, which should feel more realistic. Also, to address feedback about difficulty in testing the new mechanics, we’ll be running Aim Punch 2 in Intense Battle Royale mode, where players will engage in more frequent fights. Your feedback will help us refine the system further, so we look forward to hearing your thoughts!
Arcade
These updates apply to Custom Match as well.
Team Deathmatch
Three new maps have been added to Team Deathmatch:
- Deston – Arena
- Vikendi – Train Station
- Sanhok – Camp Bravo
The map selection probabilities have been adjusted to reflect these new additions. Additionally, Sanhok maps now feature destruction elements.
Spawn Kit Changes
- SMG ammo has been increased from 150 to 180.
- The Secondary Weapon for SMGs is now the P92 (previously the Deagle).
- Laser Sight is now available as an attachment for SMGs.
Intense Battle Royale
The map rotation for Intense Battle Royale now consists entirely of random maps (previously, it was split between existing and random maps). Destruction features have been added to Sanhok maps.
Changes to weapon attachments from Random Weapon Crates include:
- ARs: Flash Hider → Muzzle Brake
- SMGs: Flash Hider → Compensator
- DMRs/SRs: Flash Hider → Suppressor
Additionally, a new LMG crate has been added, containing the M249 or DP-28. Red Supply Drops now include attachments. The default Throwable at the start of the match has been changed from the Molotov Cocktail to a Frag Grenade.
The maximum player count in Custom Match has been increased from 24 to 100.
Hot Drop
- Maximum number of starting players:
- PC: 48 → 64
- Spawn rates have been reduced by approximately 15%.
Dev’s Comment:
For Hot Drop, we’re returning to the original player count to heighten the intensity of the battles. We’re also adjusting spawn rates back to the levels experienced when the mode first launched to provide a more dynamic and intense gameplay experience. Furthermore, we’ve optimized performance to ensure smoother gameplay.

Bot Refinement
We’ve made adjustments to improve bot behavior, ensuring they feel more natural while maintaining the same difficulty level for players.
