Hello PUBG players!
We’re back with the second edition of DEV DROP, and this time, we’re diving into the exciting world of Sanhok Destruction! In this edition, Director Taehyun Kim provides insightful answers to questions and feedback shared by players from all around the globe.
While putting together this DEV DROP, we realized that many of your questions don’t necessarily tie into a specific update, so we thought it would be a great opportunity to answer some of those as well. To do that, we’ve created “Ask PUBG Anything,” a compilation of responses to some of your most pressing questions that didn’t quite make it into the video. Be sure to check it out after watching DEV DROP. We hope you enjoy it!
Ask PUBG Anything
Q. Can you make it possible to set different skins for weapons, Smoke Grenades, and Pan for each preset?
A. We understand that our players have diverse opinions on presets, and we’re actively looking into improving them. We’ll carefully review community feedback and other sources to make sure we address potential improvements.
Q. Can you add a feature to remove duplicate skins earned from events? There’s still a recurring issue with getting duplicate skins. Will you continue releasing content that leads to duplicates?
A. We are fully aware of the ongoing issue with Event tier items. Since these items can’t be exchanged for BP or disassembled, managing them when they pile up in the inventory becomes difficult. We’re planning to introduce a feature that will allow players to remove Event tier items if they choose to do so.
Q. Some players find themselves unfairly penalized by team kills or false reports, especially when encountering a three-player squad engaging in unsportsmanlike conduct. Will there be improvements for situations like these?
A. We’re aware that some players become victims of team kills or false reports. This is an issue we take seriously, and we’ll discuss potential improvements internally to make sure that fair players aren’t unjustly penalized because of others’ misconduct.
Q. Are there plans to address players who join matches through random squad matchmaking and then go AFK to exploit events?
A. If you encounter such players, please report them under the ‘griefing or toxic behavior’ category, including video evidence or relevant data. We’ll review the reports and take appropriate actions as needed.
Q. Will you re-release past collaboration skins?
A. We are actively considering re-releasing previously launched collaboration skins. However, the process isn’t as simple as it sounds, as it involves obtaining approval from IP holders and dealing with contractual limitations. Let us know which IPs you’d like to see return by sharing your feedback in the community. Your input will help us prioritize the collaborations that are most requested.
Q. What’s the timeline for implementing two-step authentication in the game?
A. We’ve seen a lot of feedback on the need for enhanced account security, and we’re preparing to introduce two-step authentication this year. Once we have a confirmed timeline, we’ll share more details with the community.
Q. When will the destructible mechanics be implemented in all maps?
A. The Destructible Terrain feature, initially introduced in Rondo, will gradually be rolled out to Taego, Miramar, and Erangel. As for the destructible buildings and objects seen in Sanhok, there are many factors to consider, such as performance concerns and gameplay balance. We’re evaluating whether expanding this feature to other maps is the right decision.
Q. Will there be progressive costumes added to the game?
A. We’ll be able to provide more details about progressive costumes in the upcoming 2025 roadmap, so stay tuned for that!
Q. Why are my teammates below level 100 when my Survivor Mastery Level is 2500?
A. Survivor Mastery Level increases based on playtime and doesn’t directly reflect a player’s skill level. Matchmaking in Normal Matches is based on MMR, which is calculated from various factors such as placement, kills, and performance metrics in each match. We continuously update the MMR system to ensure it accurately reflects player skill. The MMR range tends to be narrower during peak hours and wider during off-peak hours.
Q. Can you add a search function for items, or make it easier to find them?
A. While we’re not developing a search system based on item names, we’re working on a system with better filtering features to help players locate items more efficiently.
Q. The current system only allows for reporting negative player behavior. Are there plans to add a feature where players can commend teammates or opponents for positive actions?
A. The compliment feature was added in July 2023, allowing players to commend their teammates with three types of compliments. Positive feedback increases a player’s Reputation level. However, as PUBG is a battle royale where only one player can be the last survivor, we’re not currently considering a system to praise opponents.
Q. Will you introduce an immediate countermeasure against intentional team killers, such as preventing them from looting or moving?
A. Punishing team killers immediately could be exploited, which makes it a difficult solution to implement. However, we are aware of player concerns regarding team kills and will continue to explore solutions to address this issue.
Q. Can you allow players to place multiple markers on the map? For example, being able to set two or more markers would help teams coordinate better by highlighting multiple items or locations.
A. We’ll review potential improvements to the ping system to see if adding the ability to place multiple markers would enhance coordination.
Q. Why is there no longer a test server for game updates? It was helpful for identifying issues early.
A. For a test server to be effective, it needs a significant player base for proper matchmaking. Unfortunately, participation rates were too low to gather meaningful feedback. As a result, we now use alternative methods, such as Labs in the Arcade, to showcase key features, discuss them with players, and gather feedback before full implementation.
Q. Why are there so many currencies in PUBG? Wouldn’t it be easier to just have fewer? It’s confusing for new players.
A. We understand that the number of in-game currencies can be overwhelming for some players, especially those new to PUBG. However, our aim is to provide diverse and enjoyable out-of-match experiences through the current system. While we’re not planning to reduce the number of currencies, we are continually exploring ways to improve the overall player experience.
Q. Why are you promoting TPP in Esports instead of sticking to FPP, like most other FPS games?
A. Both Ranked and Esports are designed to offer competitive challenges for players. While FPP has a dedicated fan base, TPP remains significantly more popular across all regions. Therefore, we’re focused on delivering both a thrilling viewing experience and competitive challenges for TPP players.
Q. Some ARs like the SCAR-L, Mk47 Mutant, and M16A4 feel weaker than others. Are you going to buff them?
A. We’re preparing balance updates and meta adjustments for this year, much like last year. Instead of focusing solely on individual weapons, we prioritize balancing across weapon categories. For example, we buffed SMGs last year to improve their viability. Our main focus is ensuring balance across different weapon types.
Q. What are you planning to do with the Thermal Scope? We’ve been giving feedback every week saying it’s too strong and doesn’t belong in PUBG.
A. We’ve received a lot of feedback on the Thermal Scope, particularly from the Western community. We’ve conducted thorough reviews and discussions, and we’ll provide details on any changes to the Thermal Scope and other map-specific items in the upcoming roadmap.
Q. Why is the Panzerfaust still present in Ranked and Esports? We think it belongs only in casual games.
A. Our goal is to align gameplay experiences across Normal Match, Ranked, and Esports to minimize gameplay discrepancies. By incorporating diverse content from Normal Match into Ranked, we aim to encourage more players to participate in competitive modes. If necessary, we’ll consider player feedback on balance adjustments, such as spawn rates or performance tweaks.
Q. What’s the future of PUBG with UE5? Will it be a separate game, or will the current version evolve over time?
A. We’ll be sharing insights about PUBG’s future development plans, including the direction we’re taking with UE5, in our 2025 roadmap. Stay tuned for more!
Q. What are you doing to combat cheaters? Are you focusing more on banning them or closing vulnerabilities to make cheating harder?
A. We’re addressing both aspects. Our focus is not only on banning cheaters but also on enhancing anti-cheat measures and closing security gaps to stay ahead of evolving cheating software.
Q. Last year’s collaboration with Automobili Lamborghini was amazing. Will there be similar collaborations this year?
A. We’ve got exciting collaborations lined up with premium automobile brands for this year. Keep an eye out for official announcements!
We hope these answers help address some of your questions. Thanks for your ongoing support, and we’ll see you in the next DEV DROP!
