Gunplay Enhancements
The revised aim punch system, which has been in testing through the Gunplay Labs, is officially launching with this update.
Aim Punch Implementation
A new aim punch model is being applied across all firearm categories. The intensity of the effect varies depending on weapon type:
- Sniper Rifles (SRs): Receive the strongest level of aim punch.
- Shotguns: Also deliver a high level of aim punch.
- Submachine Guns (SMGs): Feature strong aim punch, slightly less than Shotguns. The VSS falls under this grouping.
- Assault Rifles (ARs), Light Machine Guns (LMGs), and Designated Marksman Rifles (DMRs): Show a lower level of aim punch, with 7.62mm variants producing more effect than 5.56mm versions.
- Other weapon types such as handguns and crossbows generate only a minimal aim punch.
There is now a distance-based scale applied to aim punch:
- SMGs and Shotguns see a substantial reduction as range increases. At around 50 meters, SMGs produce aim punch similar to ARs.
- SRs still exert a notable punch at medium range, though it diminishes with distance.
- ARs and DMRs have seen a small boost in base aim punch compared to previous builds. However, beyond 100 meters, this evens out to match earlier versions.
According to the developers, this updated system stems from tests conducted in January and March. Adjustments made since the initial lab phase have been aimed at reducing the discomfort some players experienced. The team remains attentive to community feedback and is prepared to continue refining the system.
Gameplay Adjustments – Spawn Changes
The following item updates are now applied to all maps, with a few exceptions for specific game modes:
- The Zipline Gun, Stun Gun, and Emergency Cover Flare are now part of the general loot pool across all maps.
- The Stun Gun and Emergency Cover Flare are also now included in Ranked mode.
- The Self-AED is now available as ground loot on all maps, but only in Solo play. It has been removed from Duo/Squad and special spawn areas and will no longer appear as a Rondo In-Game Challenge reward.
- The following items have been removed from all loot tables: Blue Chip Transmitter, Decoy Grenade, Spike Trap, Thermal 4x Scope, and Battle Ready Kit.
- Slight increases have been made to spawn rates for the Zipline Gun and its cable.
- Erangel now features fixed spawn spots for the Inflatable Boat, though the overall quantity remains the same.
Item adjustments include:
- Zipline Gun: Max range increased by roughly 50%.
- Stun Gun: Slight boost to muzzle velocity; reduced effective range for better close-range focus.
- Emergency Cover Flare: Item weight raised from 23 to 27 units.
The overarching goal for these changes, as stated by the developers, is to streamline and unify gameplay across all game modes and map types. These changes are part of a broader initiative to minimize inconsistencies and make gameplay more intuitive and balanced across Normal, Ranked, and Esports environments. By narrowing content discrepancies between modes, players can better focus on executing their strategies without having to relearn item distributions for each map. These revisions also help spectators and commentators understand gameplay more easily, while underutilized items receive tweaks to encourage more frequent use.
Audio Improvements
This update also includes several audio-related enhancements, many of which were requested by players.
- The volume for firearms, vehicles, and planes—when used by the player—has been slightly lowered. This change only affects the player performing the action; other players will still hear the original volume levels.
- Mortar explosion sounds now scale more clearly with distance, improving player perception and reaction based on sound alone.
According to developers, these changes aim to reduce audio fatigue during long gaming sessions without interfering with sound-dependent gameplay.
Miscellaneous Gameplay Changes
Progressive weapon skin kill effects will now be visible to everyone, not just your teammates.
Recall System Expansion
The Recall system is now available on all maps, including Karakin and Paramo.
World Updates
Celebratory items from PUBG’s 8th anniversary, such as themed ferries and bridge decorations, have been removed. Thank you to everyone who joined in the birthday celebration!
Bunny Baskets have been placed across multiple maps—Erangel, Miramar, Taego, Deston, Vikendi, and Rondo. These baskets offer healing items and are available in both Normal and Ranked modes.
Erangel Updates
The Hall of Fame has been refreshed to commemorate The Expendables, winners of PGC 2024. Updates include new photos, a trophy display, the team’s uniform, a crest, a poster, and a redesigned Honor Board. Previous champions remain visible via the Honor Board, while the new additions highlight the latest victors below.
Deston Weather Variants
The following dynamic weather types are returning:
- Storm
- Sunrise
- Clearing Storm
Arcade Mode Changes
Hot Drop mode has been removed, though it may return for limited-time events in the future.
Team Deathmatch Changes
Kill messages will no longer display teammate kills or knockdowns, creating a cleaner in-game interface.
Custom Match Updates
Numerous improvements have been made to the Custom Match system:
- On PC, text chat is now available in lobbies. Use
/cm
or/custom
to enter the Custom Match chat. Two channels are now available: Custom Match and Team. - A System Menu button has been added to the bottom of the lobby screen.
- Lobbies persist after matches end.
- Map selection can now be changed after lobby creation, although all other settings will reset to the new map’s default.
- A new Match Start Standby Time setting lets hosts configure the pre-match waiting period.
- A Blue Zone Activation toggle has been added, available only to players with Partner or Clan Master privileges. If deactivated, matches will auto-end after a certain period.
- Two AI-specific settings allow enabling bots and customizing their damage output. These are available only in Custom – Normal mode and require appropriate privileges.
- When bots are added, matches can now begin with only one team, and continue even if only bots remain.
- Player limits have been raised to 100 for most modes, with the exception of Team Deathmatch and 1v1 Arena. However, console performance limitations have reduced the Hot Drop player cap to 32.
- After matches end, all players will now see the results screen.
- The Spike Trap, Decoy Grenade, and Blue Chip Transmitter have been removed from the Spawn tab.
- Presets saved before 2020 are no longer compatible.
Developers emphasized that these updates represent the beginning of a broader effort to improve Custom Match functionality. These quality-of-life changes are designed to make creating and managing matches more intuitive and flexible, and even more enhancements are planned for the future.
We look forward to seeing you drop into the action with all these new changes!
