Hello players!
First, we’d like to extend a huge congratulations to all of you on PUBG’s 8th Anniversary! We’re thrilled to celebrate this milestone with the amazing community that’s supported the game all these years. Your dedication and passion have been the driving force behind these incredible eight years, and we couldn’t have done it without you. As we look ahead, we’re excited to share our plans for 2025, which we believe will be just as impactful as everything we’ve achieved so far.
Reflecting on 2024, it was a year of significant strides for PUBG. From the launch of Rondo to the enhancements on Sanhok, we introduced fresh systems, vehicles, weapons, and modes that pushed the game forward in exciting new ways. As we prepared for Unreal Engine 5 integration, we worked hard to ensure that our live service remained uninterrupted. But it wasn’t just about delivering new features – we made sure to listen to your feedback and make PUBG even better based on what you wanted to see in the game. We also had the privilege of meeting players around the world, which allowed us to further tailor the PUBG experience to different regions. Thank you to all our longtime players, as well as those who joined the journey more recently.
Looking ahead to 2025, our focus will be on three core areas: developing exciting new content, enhancing the live service, and ensuring long-term sustainability. Our aim is to continually expand the game with fresh and exciting features, enhance the systems that keep it stable, and establish a foundation that ensures PUBG will continue to grow and thrive for years to come.
Before we dive deeper, please remember that the plans and schedules we’re sharing today may evolve over time, and there are some exciting developments still in the works that we can’t reveal just yet.
So, let’s jump into the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS 2025 Roadmap!
Developing Exciting New Content
World Updates
Expanding the PUBG World
In PUBG, the maps are not just battlegrounds, but spaces where players create their own stories. In 2025, we’re aiming to take this to the next level. While we won’t be launching a completely new map this year, we’re planning to introduce significant updates to our existing maps, transforming them in exciting ways. These updates will give players new experiences on familiar ground, enhancing the overall atmosphere and gameplay.
Collaborations and Seasonal Events
To keep things fresh, we’ll be focusing on a series of unique collaborations and seasonal updates throughout the year. This will ensure that the world of PUBG feels dynamic, with new events and themes that continuously evolve. Additionally, we’ll be introducing the Destructible Terrain feature in popular maps like Taego, Miramar, and Erangel. This will allow you to interact with the environment in new ways, changing how you approach each match.
New Gameplay Content
Expanding Gameplay Features
Our efforts to expand the gameplay experience in 2025 will focus on long-term enjoyment. Instead of making short-term updates, we want to develop content that players can enjoy across all maps and game modes. One of our priorities will be expanding player actions, such as improving vehicle interactions and adding new features like pulling open doors or throwing items. We’re also working on enhancing the overall combat experience with new items like camouflage nets and improvements to the Flare Gun UI.
Interactive World Features
We are adding new interactive elements to the maps to make the world feel more alive. For example, we’ll be introducing AI-controlled animals and interactive objects, such as gas tanks that release smoke when destroyed, which will add more tactical depth to your engagements. These elements will be spread across all maps, providing players with new ways to strategize and interact with the environment.
Modes
Innovating and Refining Game Modes
Last year, PUBG introduced several exciting game modes, from Team Deathmatch (TDM) and Intense Battle Royale (IBR) to community-driven content like Hot Drop and Survivors Left Behind. Based on the fantastic reception of these modes, we plan to continue improving and expanding on them. We’ll also be experimenting with new modes based on player feedback, and popular modes like Hot Drop might be reintroduced as permanent features. Additionally, we will bring back POBG with a new stage, as well as a new roguelike mode called “Project Cyclops,” which is based on the POBG framework.
Co-Development of New High-Quality Modes
This year, we’re also exploring co-development with external studios to create even higher-quality modes. One example of this is “PAYDAY,” a new mode developed in collaboration with Starbreeze Entertainment, which we plan to release in the first half of 2026.
New Collaborations
Premium Automotive Collaborations
Building on the success of previous partnerships with automotive brands and celebrities, PUBG will continue collaborating with premium vehicle brands in 2025. Our goal is to deliver an immersive and realistic experience with these vehicles, allowing players to customize every detail, from exterior color to interior features. We are excited to bring you new vehicles that truly reflect their real-world counterparts.
Expanding into New Areas
In addition to automotive partnerships, we are branching out into other areas to enrich PUBG’s world. Our collaborations with global celebrities and fashion brands will bring new, exciting content into the game, offering players a chance to experience even more diverse and creative in-game items.
Contender System
Introducing the Contender System
To enhance character customization and immersion, we are introducing a new system called “Contender.” This system will provide high-end, dynamic character customization options with exclusive progression elements. The first character under this system will be released through the Workshop, and we will continue to refine and expand this feature throughout the year.
Enhancing Live Service
Unifying Gameplay Across Normal Match, Ranked, and Esports
In 2025, one of our main objectives is to unify the gameplay experience across Normal Match, Ranked, and Esports. We will work to reduce content discrepancies between maps, making it easier for players to transition between modes. This will help create a smoother and more cohesive gameplay experience for everyone, encouraging more players to try Ranked and Esports modes.
Gunplay
Meta Changes and Balance Updates
This year, we plan to reintroduce meta changes and large-scale rebalancing to break the stagnation and foster new playstyles. We will focus on refining the gunplay system, implementing regular balance updates, and making adjustments to less popular weapons. Additionally, we’re looking to introduce new weapons and attachments to keep the combat experience fresh and exciting.
Ranked
Tier Revamp and Rewards
Ranked mode will undergo a major overhaul in 2025, with a revamped tier structure designed to make progression more rewarding. We’re also introducing a new top-tier rank for the best players and enhancing the rewards system to offer more satisfying incentives. Duo Ranked, a highly requested feature, is also in the works, along with further improvements to matchmaking and skill-based progression.
AI Revamp
AI Enhancements
We are making significant strides to improve the AI system in PUBG, transitioning from simple bots to more advanced AI with diverse skill levels and behaviors. These improvements will help AI bots interact more naturally with the world, providing a more engaging and challenging experience. The updated AI will behave more realistically during gameplay, moving toward safe zones, taking cover, and even using items like Smoke Grenades.
Clan System
Expanding Clan Features
In 2025, we will continue refining the Clan system to create a more meaningful social experience. New features and improvements will make it easier for players to collaborate and interact, strengthening the sense of community in PUBG.
Pass System Revamp
A New Approach to Passes
To make the Pass system more engaging, we are introducing a feature that allows players to progress through multiple passes simultaneously. This will give players more flexibility and enjoyment when completing their Passes, and we will be releasing additional Pass types to provide more exciting rewards and experiences.
BP Usability Improvements
Enhancing BP’s Value
We’re committed to expanding the ways BP can be used in PUBG. In 2025, we will introduce a system that allows players to purchase items with either G-COIN or BP, making customization more accessible. This is part of our ongoing effort to enhance BP’s usability and make the overall gameplay experience more rewarding.
UGC Project
Empowering Player Creativity
We’re introducing the PUBG UGC (User-Generated Content) project, which will allow players to create and share their own custom modes and content. The first version of the UGC system will be available in Custom Match, and we’ll be adding tools for players to design their own maps and game rules. We can’t wait to see what unique experiences the community will create!
Transition to Current-Generation Consoles
Next-Gen Console Support
Based on feedback from the community, we’re preparing to transition PUBG to current-gen consoles to take advantage of the latest graphical enhancements. This will provide players with a smoother, more immersive experience on next-gen hardware.
We’re looking forward to an exciting year ahead, and we can’t wait to share more with you as we continue evolving PUBG!
